Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday hosted his predecessor, Akinwunmi Ambode, at the State House, Lagos, where they engaged in extensive discussions on the progress and future of the state.

The courtesy visit, which was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, saw the two leaders hold a deep conversation around the development of Lagos State, her economic trajectory, and position as a socio-political stabiliser in the subregion.

“The two leaders held a deep conversation around the development of Lagos State, her economic trajectory, and position as a socio-political stabiliser in the subregion,” Akosile wrote.

Sanwo-Olu and Ambode had met in June when the current governor graced the latter’s 60th birthday party in Lagos.

The same month, Sanwo-Olu was joined by Ambode and former Governor Babatunde Fashola at a reception organised in honour of President Bola Tinubu in Lagos.

“It was the first time since Ambode left office in 2019 that all four governors of the state since 1999 would be seen together at a public event,” Akosile added.

The meeting between Sanwo-Olu and Ambode is seen as a significant step towards fostering a harmonious relationship between the two leaders and promoting the development of Lagos State.

“Mr. Governor continues to receive support and encouragement from well-meaning Lagosians and Nigerians on the way he’s been handling the different vertical of development, including security, economy, culture and tourism,” Akosile said.
