Sales Rep. docked for allegedly stealing N500,000
A 40-year-old Sales Representative, Yusuf Oladejo, on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing his employer’s N500,000.
Oladejo, who resides in Oko-Oba in Agege area of Lagos, is facing a charge of stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, ASP Clifford Ogu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Oct. 25 at Oko-Oba, Agege, Lagos.
Ogu said that the money belonged to his employer, one Mrs Oluwafadekemi Lawal.
Ogu alleged that Lawal found the money missing after taken stock of her goods. She reported the incident to the police and the defendant was arrested.
Ogu said the offence contravened Section 287 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Newsmen reports that the section prescribes seven years jail term for stealing.
The Magistrate, Mrs S.K Matepo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Matepo said that the sureties must be gainfully employed with evidence of two years tax payments to the Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case until Jan. 27.
