Rwanda evacuates nationals from Sudan
The Rwandan government on Tuesday announced the evacuation of its citizens and other nationals from war-torn Sudan.
This is coming as the fierce battle between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces continues after several deaths were recorded.
A statement issued by the Rwandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said “Today, the government evacuated 42 stranded persons, including 32 Rwandans and 10 others from five different nationalities from Khartoum.’’
The statement said the 42 stranded persons arrived safely in Kigali, the Rwandan capital, aboard a chartered RwandAir flight from Aswan in Egypt.
The war in Sudan has reportedly killed over 500 people and left over 4,000 others wounded.
