Rural community development paramount to our administration — Oyetola

…As dwellers commend  unprecedented government intervention

The Governor of Osun State, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola has said that the well being of rural communities remained the centre piece of his administration’s developmental policies.

Oyetola noted that his government is predicated on the governance philosophy of bottom-up approach to development engineering which was why focus has been shifted to the grassroots.

The governor disclosed this through his Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye during a community engagement program held in some villages of Odo-Otin Local Government area of the State.

He noted that every serious government that wanted a sustainable development of the polity would always focus on the grassroots by making socio-economic policies that could affect their lives positively.

“The best form of development every society could achieve is the one that emanates from lower stratum of the society rather than the centre for it facilitates a widespread improvement on socioeconomic indices.

“This is why our government has also placed premium on the needs and yearnings of the rural communities in the state and we shall stop at nothing in making necessary provisions to cater for the rural dwellers in execution of policies and programmes,” He concluded.

Equally, the rural dwellers of the villages in Odo-Otin Local Government area of the State commended the Governor for new paradigm in his governance which has given adequate focus to the rural communities for the purpose of plenary development in the state.

While speaking, the Atapara of Iyeku, Oba Saliu Salawudeen Ajiboye; the Baale of Ayoo, Chief Ibitayo Taofeek; and the Baale of Elesin funfun, Chief Wasiu Abdul Salaam separately appreciated Oyetola for his unprecedented interventions in the villages, especially in the area of basic amenities such as portable water, electrification and rehabilitation of roads among others which have made lives bearable for them.

They also eulogized the Governor for considering them in the distribution of special intervention programs such as grants for the vulnerable, food scheme, among others despite the remoteness of their communities from the centre, urging him not to relent his quest to cater for the rural community dwellers.

Others who joined the Community Engagement include Member Osun State House of Assembly representing Odo-Otin State Constituency, Hon. Adetoyi Micheal Adeyinka; Chairman Odo-Otin Local Government, Hon. Dele  Adepoju; Chairman Odo – North LCDA, Hon. Iyiola Adekeye, among other political stalwarts.
