RSU matriculates 7,337 students in Port Harcourt

The Rivers State University (RSU), Nkpolu-Oroworukwo has matriculated a total of 7,337 students for the 2021/2022 academic session.
Admitting the students into the fold of studentship, the Vice Chancellor(VC) of the university, Prof Nlerum Okogbule charged them to be of good conduct while their programmes last.
He reminded them that there is no short cut to success other than hardwork.
“Let me state unequivocally that the key to success in an institution such as this is hardwork and unwavering focus on your academic assignment. You are therefore expected to take your studies seriously and not waste your valuable time on unproductive ventures or activities,” the VC said.
He warned that the university will not hesitate to rusticate any student that indulges in cultism, exam malpractice or any anti-social activity that is inimical to the values of the university. Prof Okogbule used the opportunity to inform the students and the gathering generally that the RSU has been rated as the 5th best university in Nigeria by Unirank, hence the need to sustain the standard.
“Let me inform you that the university has zero tolerance for all forms of antisocial activities, such as, membership of secret cult groups, examination malpractices or what is now known as ‘sorting.’ The penalty for involvement in any of these activities is rustication from the university and I do not waste time in doing this once a student is found culpable,” the VC said.
He advised the students to belong to registered and acceptable clubs in the university that will help them achieve their heart desires of gaining admission into RSU.
The Vice Chancellor commended the parents or guardians whose wards chose RSU for their academic pursuit, assuring them that they are in safe hands.
“I hereby assure you that as long as your child or ward is hard-working, diligent and law-abiding,the financial and material sacrifices that you will make for their studies in this university will not be in vain.”
Prof Okogbule thanked Governor Nyesom Wike for his support to the University, citing the recent establishment of three new campuses of the university at Ahoada, Emohua and Saakpenwa as testimony of his support to the university.
The matriculants were drawn from faculties of Agriculture, Medical Sciences, Education, Engineering, Environmental Sciences and Humanities.
Others include Law, Management Sciences, Science and Social Sciences.
