Ronaldo should have scored – Al-Nassr manager reacts to Saudi Super Cup exit

Al-Nassr manager, Rudi Garcia, has highlighted Cristiano Ronalo’s miss from point-blank range as the turning point of Thursday’s Super Cup defeat to Al-Ittihad.

Ronaldo failed to score for the second game as his side lost 3-1, thanks to goals from Romarinho, Hamdallah and Al-Shaqeeti.

The 37-year-old came close, leaping high into the air and diverting a header at goal, only to be denied by Grohe in goal.

Al-Ittihad then immediately made it 2-0 just 28 seconds later.

“One of the things that changed the course of the match was Cristiano’s missed opportunity in the first half.

“I congratulate Al-Ittihad. They presented a much better first half than us, and we played a good second half, but unfortunately, we were not able to adjust the result.

“It’s true that we regret losing the Super Cup, but we are still the first in the league,” Garcia said.
