Robbery gang burgle man’s phone, shop in Ile-Ife, rob him again on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

Ogun State police command said it has arrested four suspects of a robbery gang who burgled a phone accessory shop in Ile Ife, Osun state belonging to one Gbenga Siyanbola and ran to hibernate in Ogun state.

Interestingly, weeks after burgling this man’s phone shop, the robbery gang again attacked Gbenga around Mowe  along Lagos-Ibadan expressway when his car broke down while on his way to Lagos from Osun State.

The suspected robbers açcording to statement from the Spokesman of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi on Sunday are Nura Bashir aged 20, Awalu Aliyu aged 38, 25-year-old Shuaibu Abdul Rasheed and Abdullah Usman aged 23 years.

Gbenga was said to have reported at Mowe police station that while trying to rectify the fault of his car the four men suddenly appeared from nowhere and robbed him of his Samsung phone.

Upon the report, the DPO Mowe Division, CSP Marvis Jayeola was said to have detailed his detectives to go after the hoodlums.

The crack detectives after weeks of painstaking investigation were said to have been able to trace one of the suspected robbers to Ikire in Osun State where he was apprehended. His arrest was said to have led the police to arrest his other three accomplices.

The police disclosed further that “Surprisingly, in the course of investigation, some other phones and accessories which had earlier been stolen from the complainant’s shop were also recovered from the suspects.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that, the suspects had earlier burgled the shop of the same complainant at Ile Ife in Osun state and that the case was reported at A Division Moore Ile Ife. Unfortunately for the hoodlums, their recent victim in Ogun state happened to be their earlier victim in Osun State.”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun has ordered that the suspects be transferred to Osun state command for diligent prosecution.
