Ahead of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day, commemorated every January 15th, the Federal Government has ordered the closure of roads linking the National Arcade, Abuja as from 2:00pm on Friday.
The directive was contained in a circular that emanated from the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan.
The circular called the attention of all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government located around the area, including the general public.
It notified that there would be a closure of the linking roads to the federal secretariat from 2.00pm prompt today.
The circular which Newsmen got access to was signed by the Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office, Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Ngozi Onwudiwe, on behalf of the Head of Service of the Federation.
Recall that the armed forces remembrance day is an annual activity to honour the nation’s fallen heroes.
As has been the tradition, the President, his Vice, Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Justice of the Federation, including other top government functionaries are expected to lay wreaths at the National Arcade, Abuja on Saturday, January 15
“To this end, all offices within the Federal Secretariat Complex are to be vacated at 2.00pm on Friday, 14th January,” the circular instructed.
