All is now set for delivery of the 71st inaugural  lecture of the Rivers State University (RSU),as Prof  Kenneth Ordu of the College of Medical Sciences of the University said he is ready to do justice to the topic titled ‘My Inheritance,My Calamity, An Avoidable Post Humous Catastrophe.’

Speaking to journalists ahead of the inaugural lecture, Prof Ordu said he was elated and happy to be given the opportunity to deliver the 71st inaugural lecture of the Rivers State University.

“I feel elated to be the first academic or professor of the College of Medical Sciences that would be delivering inaugural lecture. It is an opportunity that has presented itself. It is not because I am better than others. I know some people are surprised about it,but the issue is that I am always somebody who wants to take the lead,” Prof Ordu said.

On the reason for the topic, Prof Ordu had this to say, “I want members of the public to attend the inaugural lecture so that they will learn and know how to avoid the problems and challenges of inheritance in the society. In fact there will be a proper grasp of inheritance right at the end of the inaugural lecture,” he assured.

Prof Ordu who is a specialist in Genetics and Modular Biology said that after obtaining his Doctorate degree, he knew he was going to specialize in the area that is related to the topic he is going to deliver in his inaugural lecture slated for Wednesday.

“After my Doctorate degree, I knew where I was heading to, or going and what is on my head. This is why my several articles have been published in many journals,” Prof Ordu said.

As the first Dean of Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences of the University, he said part of his recommendations would be on how governments at all levels and relevant authorities can contribute towards the acquisition of more Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Sequencing Machine in the country.

He commended the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for his support to the university and for providing conducive environment for academic activities. Prof Ordu also lauded the Vice Chancellor of RSU, Prof Nlerum Okogbule and the entire staff of the university for the team work and opportunity offered him to deliver the inaugural lecture.
