The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has elected its candidates for the Houses of Representatives and State Assembly.
Hon Kingsley Chinda emerged winner for Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency ,Martins Amaewhule was elected member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Obio/Akpor Constituency 1, while Mrs Emilia Amadi emerged winner for Obio/Akpor Constituency 2.
The trio who were sole aspirants in their respective constituencies were also subjected to voting by accredited delegates by the Electoral Committees and subsequently declared winners by Returning Officers in their respective constituencies.
In his acceptance speech shortly after the election, Hon Chinda promised to sustain the quality representation he has been offering to his constituency.
He equally pledged to attract more constituency projects in consultation with his people’s demand.
“I am at the House of Representatives to represent and speak for my people,so everything I do is in consultation with my people. I will continue to attract projects to my constituents, because that is what they can see physically,” Chinda said.
On his part Hon Martins Amaewhule said having been re-elected to represent Obio/Akpor Constituency 1 at the Rivers State House of Assembly, he will sustain his quality representation for his people.
He described the primary election of PDP as credible, noting that the party abides by the country’s constitution.
“Representing your people at the House of Assembly calls for quality representation, so it’s a responsibility and privilege. I do not take such opportunity for granted,” Amaewhule said.
On her part,the winner of Obio/Akpor State Constituency 2, Mrs Emilia Amadi said she will remain grateful to Governor Nyesom Wike for giving women the opportunity to serve.
She also expressed gratitude to the delegates and leadership of her party in Obio/Akpor Constituency for choosing her to represent them at the Rivers State House of Assembly.
“I thank God for the victory. I am highly overwhelmed of the support delegates. I thank Governor Nyesom Wike for the sense of belonging given to women to serve. I also thank the leadership of PDP in Obio/Akpor for choosing me to serve my people,” Emilia said.
Mrs Amadi promised to do her best as a legislator if she finally emerges winner after the general elections.
