December,19/12/2021 shall remain green in the annals of Obolo Ex-malabites, who are graduates of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) of Obolo extraction, in Andoni Local Governnment Area of Rivers State. The event marked unveiling of the group by way of end of the year get together party.

Addressing the gathering in Port Harcourt, the Administrator General of the group, Dr Fingesi Idante said it has been his dream to gather the elite of Obolo nation, especially the Ex-malabites and malabresses of UNICAL Alumni to chart a new cause, with a view to developing Obolo nation.

He expressed happiness that the dream has materialized in his life time.

Dr Idante charged the Obolo Ex-malabites to come all out to achieve the ideals of the group, which he said is giving back to the society who produced them.

“It was a serious concern to me since I graduated from University of Calabar in 2012 on  how to assemble all unical alumni of Obolo extraction together for a re-union for a frequent intellectual discourse that may lead to Obolo development as a way of giving back to our mother land as part of our obligation and to encourage our younger ones to also pursue higher quality education preferably in Unical  as to improve their standard of living and to live above local sentiments that bring about inter communities and inter family crises such as land dispute and chieftaincy tussle in Obolo,” Dr Idante said.

On his advice to other Obolo graduates who are not necessarily UNICAL Alumni, the Administrator General said they should rally round  themselves to contribute to the development of Obolo nation, taking a cue from Obolo Ex-malabites.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Obolo Doctors Forum Worldwide and Secretary General of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Rivers State Chapter, Dr Famba Daniel who expressed gladness to be part of the Obolo Ex-malabites and malabresses, noted that it is worthwhile to contribute to the good of the society.

Adding her voice to the subject matter, Mensa Utong Clinton, an Ex-malabress of 2008 sect (year) said the end of the year get together event will no doubt unite the Obolo Ex-malabites and malabresses.
