The National Rescue Movement (NRM) has formally handed over the flag to its Rivers State governorship candidate, Amb Sobomabo Jackrich at the party’s secretariat in Port  Harcourt.

The party’s flag bearer had earlier been adopted unanimously by all the delegates of the party from the 23 local government areas of Rivers State ably led by their party council chairmen across the 23 local government areas.

Handing over the flag to Jackrich, the National Chairman of NRM, Amb Isaac Udeh who was represented by the Deputy National Chairman-South, Prof Ihigwe Lawson said leadership is given by God.

“Today on behalf of the National Chairman of our great party, Amb Isaac Udeh, I hand you over the mantle as our flag bearer in Rivers State 2023 governorship election,” Lawson said.

Earlier, the Electoral Committee Chairman of NRM, Chief Abel Tariah had coordinated the adoption of Amb Sobomabo Jackrich as consensus governorship candidate of the party by all the delegates of the 23 local government areas of Rivers State.

“This event has been anxiously expected. It is to officially elect our governorship candidate, having earlier elected our State and National legislators.

“We have only one candidate already screened by the National High Chief, Amb Sobomabo Jackrich. The Committee has no option than to accept or adopt him as the sole governorship candidate of NRM in Rivers State, come 2023 general elections,” Tariah said.

In his acceptance speech after the adoption, Amb Jackrich said he appreciates God for making the programme successful. He assured that he will not let the people down.

“NRM is trying to change the narrative. Among the 18 political parties registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) only NRM will rescue the State and Nigeria at large in 2023. Our children will no longer be out of school. NRM will eradicate hunger in our land,” Jackrich said.

He recalled how scores of innocent Nigerians lost their lives in a stampede at Polo Club, which he said would have been avoided by good governance. This, he said, NRM will provide.

Sobomabo Jackrich urged the people to come enmass and vote NRM to victory, pointing out that the recently Amended Electoral Act will guarantee rig-free election in 2023.

He expressed happiness that God is gradually taking leadership away from evil men in Nigeria.
