Rivers govt will resist any attempt to scuttle LG polls – Fubara
•Accuses IGP of trying to stampede election process

The Rivers State Governor,Sir Siminailayi Fubara has sounded it loud and clear that his administration will resist attempt from any quarter to truncate Saturday’s planned local government election in the State.
The Governor stated this Friday while briefing the Press in Port Harcourt on the update of the said election.
He accused the police of breaking into the RSIEC Office in an attempt to cart away sensitive materials for the planned Saturday local government election in the state at the instance of the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Gov Fubara said the IGP should take responsibility for any breakdown of law and order in Rivers State as regards the Saturday’s council polls.
He vowed that Rivers people will resist such negative tendency to thwart the council elections.
“Any attempt or act to stop the local government election will result to lawlessness in the State and the Inspector General of Police should take responsibility for this action.
“Any attempt by any government agency to stop this election,will be resisted.
“I want to tell the Nigerian Police that enough is enough. No court will give you order to be enemy of the State,so why would you want to be enemy of Rivers State.
“Again if you don’t want to participate in the election, please steer clear,but don’t try to stop the process.
“I’m not calling on the world intervene,but to warn that we’re ready and prepared to take the challenge.
“Local government election of Saturday,5th October is sacrosanct and elected officers must be elected and sworn in to conduct the affairs of the councils as directed by the Supreme Court judgement,”Gov Fubara said.
He thanked Rivers people for their massive support for his administration.
