Rivers Gov, Fubara like placeholder – Tonye Cole

The 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Patrick Tonye-Cole, has described the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, as a placeholder.

Tonye-Cole, who spoke when he appeared as a guest on the program, Political Paradigm on Channels Television on Tuesday, claimed that the governor has no path of his own.

He referred to the recently appointed commissioners in the state, noting that most of them were carryover commissioners from the previous administration.

“The main problem that we see in Rivers politics today is that our current governor seems to be, for lack of a better word, a placeholder.

“Because every decision that has been made, has been taken in continuation, so to speak, of what was there before.

“And so, the appointment continues the same. The trajectory of what type of business is carried out, what the government is going to do.

“The commissioners were replaced, and it was almost the same commissioners that were there before.

“An announcement was made recently that they are going to spend N200bn or so on construction. And what are the constructions? Bridges, roads, exactly the same thing.”

According to Tonye-Cole, the first 100 days of a political leader in office reveal the path the person intends to take.

He said Fubara’s path will bring no change to Rivers State.
