Rivers APC allege plot by PDP to weaponize judiciary
The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State has alleged a plot to arm-twist the judiciary into interfering with the internal activities of the party, in a bid to distract it from pursuing its cases at the Election Petitions Tribunal.
A statement by the state APC Publicity Secretary, Darlington Nwauju, claimed the Peoples Democratic Party in the state intends to induce some suspended members of the APC to drag the judiciary in Rivers State into the political arena by procuring an ex parte order on Wednesday (today), against the 3rd Congressionally elected Chairman of APC and other members of the State Working Committee of the party in the state.
The statement, which said the alleged plot is contrary to the APC’s constitution and natural justice as non-members of the party cannot suspend, expel or stop any officer of the party from functioning, condemned it as the height of rascality.
Nwauju called on the judiciary not to allow imposters to legalize illegality by coming through the window of the Rivers State High Court to hijack the APC, but to deepen democracy and live above board, by resisting attempts by selfish and unscrupulous politicians in the state to drag their names to the mud.
