The death has been announced of Rev. Dr. Michael Olusola Odelami, the General Overseer, Universal Gospel Apostolic Church inc. Aged 84, he was a thoroughbred educationist who obtained a Bachelor of religion education, M.A Theology and PhD at Acadia University, Canada, after completing his secondary education at Origbo Anglican grammar school, Moro, Osun state, and he was privileged to be the first Akinlalu Indigene to attend secondary school in the 1950s. Before his calling, he worked at the defunct Daily SketchNewspaper as Executive Officer till 1975.
He also pioneered two theological colleges namely, Christ International Divinity College (CINDICO,Erinmo-Ijesha, Affiliated to Acadia University, Canada)for Prophet S.K. Abiara, and Universal Divinity College, Main Campus at Akinlalu junction, Osun State. Reverend Odelami had taught at both Obafemi Awolowo University and Acadia University as a visiting Lecturer from 1987. In 1991, Rev. Dr. Odelami represented Nigeria at the Organisation of African Institute churches to be trained and serve as resource person in its Theological education, by extension programme for Africa. Before his death he was the President of Acadia University Consortium of affiliated colleges in Nigeria.
Like most great servants of God, Baba encountered diverse challenges during his lifetime including spiritual battles, but the grace of the lord sustained him, because he was an icon in Nigeria Pentecostalism. He is survived by wife, brother, children and many grandchildren. Burial arrangement is slated for 3rd, 4th and 5th August, 2022 at Ibadan and the Church headquarters at Akinlalu.May his soul rest in perfect peace.
