Reps Speaker, wife donate N14Om to Jigawa victims explosion

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, has presented a donation of N100,000,000 (one hundred million naira) to the Jigawa State Government on behalf of the National Assembly members. 

This visit aims to express condolences to the Jigawa State Government and the community of Majiya following the recent tragedy that resulted in the loss of 182 lives and many injuries.

During the presentation, Speaker Abbas highlighted that the funds are intended for those currently hospitalised and for the families of the victims in Majiya, Taura Local Government.

In response, Jigawa State Governor Malam Umar Namadi expressed gratitude for the support, acknowledging the Speaker’s commitment despite his busy schedule. 

He emphasised that the funds will provide much-needed assistance to the affected individuals and families, noting the state’s feeling of being stranded in the aftermath of the tragedy.

Governor Namadi further stated that the generosity displayed reflects a strong bond between Jigawa State and the National Assembly, assuring that the people of Majiya will benefit significantly from the donation.

In a related development, Fatima Abbas Tajudeen, the Speaker’s wife, extended her condolences to Hajiya Hadiza Umar Namadi, the wife of the Jigawa State Governor. She donated N40,000,000 to support the families of the victims, along with 200 cartons of spaghetti and 200 bags of 25kg rice.

Hajiya Hadiza expressed her deep appreciation for these generous contributions and thanked the First Lady of the Federal Republic, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for facilitating this gesture of support to the people of Majiya and the Jigawa State Government.
