Rep. Doguwa reiterates appeal for Nigerians to avoid nationwide protest
Rep. Alhassan Doguwa, Chairman House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), has reiterated his call on Nigerians to shun the planned protest over the present challenges facing the nation.
Doguwa made the call in a interview, he said that President Bola Tinubu was working hard to address the challenges facing the nation and its people.
“My colleagues and I in the National Assembly are reaching out to our constituents to appeal to them to shun the planned protest slated for Aug. 1.
“We are also reaching out to the local clerics and religious leaders to advocate for peace in the country.
“We must give the government a chance to succeed for the good of the nation. We are reaching out to our people to muster continued support for the president.
“We are proud that the President has signed into law the Northwest Development Commission Act.”.
He said that he was proud that the APC-led Federal Government had provided N200 billion to complete the Kano Northern bypass and also spent billions to complete the Kaduna-Kano railway line.
He said that a total of N93 billion was needed to complete the last lap of the Kano-Maiduguri Expressway, which he said was the Kano axis of the project.
He added that N5 billion was also spent for the reconstruction of the Daka Tsalle-Tiga-Tudun Wada-Doguwa Federal Highway.
He said that the country is now in a tense state because of the anticipated protests planned by some youths, adding that nobody has come out to claim that he is the organizer.
“Tell our youths that protest is not the way to go. They should pray for their leaders. No responsible person should come out to protest something that was built on deceit.
“I agree there is hardship. We represent the people, and we are doing our best to help bring solutions to them.
And because this hardship started almost 16 years ago, the truth is that it cannot be solved in just one year.
“It cannot be done. People should not allow themselves to be brainwashed to participate, he said.
