Remembrance Day: AbdulRazaq extols Nigerian Armed Forces

Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara on Sunday extolled the commitment and loyalty of the Nigerian Armed Forces in the service of the country.
AbdulRazaq affirmed this at the Interdenominational Thanksgiving Service to commemorate the Armed Forces Remembrance Day and Emblem Appeal Week at Mount Olive Anglican Church, Ilorin.
This is contained in a statement issued in Ilorin on Sunday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Mrs Modupe Joel.
Represented by his Deputy, Kayode Alabi, the governor asserted that the courageous Nigerians had obeyed Biblical injunctions on service.
These heroes, he said, “served their country and offered their lives as a ransom for the preservation of the nation”.
AbdulRazaq appreciated the effort and sacrifice of the Nigerian Armed Forces in maintaining peace, security and tranquillity in the state and beyond.
He, therefore, called on the people to support and cooperate with members of the Nigerian Armed Forces to combat security challenges which undermine the stability of our nation.
The former state Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, Evang. Timothy Opoola, in his sermon said: “Sacrifice is an expression of love. When you love, you give all.”
He enjoined the people not to be afraid to make any sacrifice but to live a life of sacrifice to God and fellow humans.
In his remarks, the CAN Chairman, Kwara Chapter, Bishop Sunday Adewole, called on government at all levels to do more in supporting the forces.
Adewole encouraged the military to continue discharging its duties with utmost professionalism.
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is observed every Jan. 15 in honour of fallen heroes of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
