Rector warns 11,108 new students against sexual misbehaviour, indecent dressing

The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ede in Osun, Dr Man Yahaya Sani has warned 11,108 newly-admitted students against sexual misbehaviour, indecent dressing and other social.vices.

Sani gave the warning on Friday in Ede during the 31st matriculation ceremony of the institution for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The Rector, who noted that the institution had set standards which would not be compromised under any guise, said that any student who failed to meet the standards would be shown the way out.

“You are to shun all forms of social vices such as cultism, examination malpractices, riot, looting, indecent dressing, sexual misbehavior, and fraudulent acts.

“You must also do away with arson, disobedience, drug abuse, drunkenness, cheating, disrespect for constituted authorities and any anti-social behavior that could mar your future”, he said.

Sani also reminded the students of the existing ban on motor-bikes, vehicles with tinted glasses and vehicles unregistered within the institution.

The rector, however, said that the institution had received loans from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for 583 students of the polytechnic.

Sani said that the beneficiaries of the loan would be notified during the loan disbursement.

He also said that the new students were admitted into the 67 academic programmes offered by the polytechnic.

“Out of the 11,105 students admitted, 5,757 students were admitted for the National Diploma (ND) programmes, and 1,768 students for ND evening programmes.

“74 students were admitted for ND weekend programmes and 3,509 students for Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes.

“I congratulating the admitted students and assure that the school management will make their stay memorable.

“To our dear parents and guardians, our goal is to make Federal Polytechnic, Ede, a model of peace with a stable academic calendar where students can pursue their education without fear or molestation.

“Therefore, you should be rest assured that your wards are in good hands. As our children, they shall receive the best of attention, care, guidance and direction,” the rector said.
