The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has disclosed why its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, wants to sell Nigeria’s refineries.
The spokesman of the PDP’s Presidential Campaign Council, Kola Ologbondiyan, said Atiku opted to sell Nigeria’s refineries because the money would fund useful ventures in the country.
Ologbondiyan lamented that the Nigerian government has been wasting money to refurbish oil refineries in the country.
He disclosed this while appearing on Arise TV Morning Show on Tuesday.
According to Ologbondiyan: “Rather than looking for money and pumping it into ventures and refineries that are not working, Atiku is saying, why not sell them and invest in ventures that are working?
“Atiku is saying let us generate funds from the sales of refineries and put it into the economy; I believe that policy is good.”
Severally, Atiku had vowed to sell Nigeria’s oil refineries if elected President of Nigeria in 2023.
Speaking during PDP’s presidential campaign in Lagos yesterday, Atiku said he would sell all of Nigeria’s refineries and use the proceeds to empower youths.
