Real Madrid’s Vinicius reveals his idol in football

Real Madrid winger, Vinicius Jr., has hailed Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar as his idol in football.

Vinicius is steadily emerging as a regular in the Brazilian national football team.

He has enjoyed an excellent start to the 2022-2023 campaign, scoring five goals and providing four assists in 9 matches.

Vinicius was included in Brazil’s starting XI against Ghana last weekend as they won 3-0 in the friendly tie.

In a tweet via his Twitter handle on Monday, Vinicius expressed his appreciation for Neymar.

The 22-year-old shared a picture from their most recent appearance together, alongside a heartwarming caption: Sonhe e realize! meu ídolo @neymarjr

It read (translated to English): “Dream and do! my idol @neymarjr.”

Vinicius has thus far featured in 15 games for the Brazil national team, scoring once.

Neymar, on the other hand, has played a whopping 120 matches for his country, pitching in with 74 goals and 55 assists.

The former Barcelona star is currently the second-leading goalscorer for his country after Pele

EPL: Liverpool in talks with Arne Slot to replace Klopp

Liverpool have opened talks with Feyenoord about appointing Arne Slot as their new manager.

According to Sky Sports, Slot is now the favourite to replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

The Dutchman is believed to tick all their key criteria for the role and the process could move quickly with the 45-year-old keen to join the Reds.

Slot lifted the KNVB Cup last weekend and guided Feyenoord to their first title in six years last season.

He appeals to Liverpool due to his aggressive, full-throttle style.

Slot’s penchant for a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 formation also fits Liverpool’s squad.

Guardiola confirms Haaland injury blow ahead of Brighton vs Man City

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has said Erling Haaland will miss their Premier League trip to Brighton because of injury.

Haaland was not included in the squad for the FA Cup semi-final win over Chelsea on Saturday, after picking up a muscle problem against Real Madrid.

The Norway striker has not featured since then and is yet to resume training.

Guardiola, speaking at his press conference today, confirmed that Haaland will not play against Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Thursday.

However, Phil Foden and John Stones are available for selection.

“Erling is not ready for tomorrow [against Brighton].

“It’s not a big issue but he’s not allowed for this game,” Guardiola said.

Former Manchester Player, Lee Sharps wants former Paris Saint-Germain manager Unai Emery to replace Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag’s long-term future at Man United is unclear because of the Re Devils’ performances this season.

Man United currently sit outside of the Premier League top four behind the likes of Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City.

In a recent interview with DAZN, Sharpe said:

“If I were choosing and Erik ten Hag was to go, Unai Emery would be at the top of my list.

“I think given the support and the full backing, he could replicate what he has done at [Aston] Villa. I think he’d be a class manager for United.”
