The favourite manager to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid has been revealed.
According to Relevo, Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso is considered the favorite to succeed Ancelotti at Santiago Bernabeu and he is reportedly in constant contact with the La Liga giants over a potential managerial job in the near future.
Alonso was a former Real Madrid midfielder, who registered six goals and 31 assists in 236 games for Los Blancos.
The Liverpool legend left Real Madrid in 2014 to join Bayern Munich, where he retired three years later.
The Spaniard managed Real Madrid’s youth team in the 2018-2019 season before being appointed Real Sociedad B’s head coach for the following campaign.
Alonso’s contract with Bayer Leverkusen will expire in 2024 and Ancelotti, meanwhile, is reportedly expected to see out his contract with Real Madrid and become Brazil’s manager right before the 2024 Copa America.
