In line with the commitment of the present administration to tackle corruption and sanitise Nigeria’s public service, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Ex-Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Mr Hakeem Odumosu as the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Ex-AIG Odumosu’s appointment is however subject to his confirmation by the Senate.
President Bola Tinubu had earlier suspended the former Chairman of the Commission, Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa in what appears as an ongoing shake-up of the administrative organ of the government.
President Bola Tinubu indefinitely suspended the former Chairman stating that the development is to allow for a thorough investigation into his conduct while in office following “weighty allegations” of abuse of office against him according to a statement by the Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey last week.
Meanwhile, the immediate past Governor of Benue State Samuel Ortom has honoured the invitation of the Benue state branch of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Ortom arrived the secretariat of the Benue state chapter of EFCC on Tuesday at about 10:23am following his invitation by EFCC.
