Presidential jets: Abiodun seeks FG advice while Utomi challenges Amosun
Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has taken steps to address the ongoing dispute with Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. over the controversial Ogun Free Trade Zone by consulting with the Federal Government. This intervention comes in the wake of criticism from Professor Pat Utomi, who has accused former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun of revoking a property deal with the state government. Abiodun reportedly met with top federal officials in Abuja last Thursday, aiming to resolve not only the issues related to the Free Trade Zone but also the recent seizure of presidential jets connected to the dispute.
The clash between Utomi and Amosun has intensified, with Utomi alleging that Amosun’s actions led to significant financial losses and complications for his investments. Utomi has detailed his struggles, including the repayment of millions in loans after Amosun canceled a contract initiated by Utomi’s predecessor. In response, Amosun defended his actions, claiming that Utomi’s demands were unreasonable and that the property deal had not warranted the claimed investment. Amosun further explained his decision-making process and justified the revocation of the deal based on perceived irregularities and legal considerations. He criticized Utomi’s approach as entitled and unfounded, maintaining that his actions adhered to proper procedures and were in the best interest of the state.
