President Tinubu’s vision for Nigerian students is to bridge the gap to the modern world

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to revitalize Nigerian universities to meet the evolving demands of the modern world. Tinubu made this statement in Nsukka during the 52nd Convocation of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), where postgraduate degrees, diplomas, and honorary doctorate degrees were conferred upon four distinguished Nigerians.

He emphasized the importance of addressing funding challenges for research and infrastructure development within universities to enable them to adapt to the changing global landscape. “Recognizing the pivotal roles universities play in research and human resource development, my administration will strive to reposition Nigerian universities to meet the dynamic demands of the modern world,” he stated.

Tinubu, represented by Mrs. Rakiya Ilyasu, Director of University Education in the Federal Ministry of Education, stressed the need for prudence and accountability in the management and utilization of funds allocated to universities. “I will consistently advocate for fiscal responsibility and transparency in the use of government funds within universities,” he asserted.

He also expressed his desire for stability and harmony in universities, aiming to eliminate the disruptions caused by prolonged industrial actions. “I am committed to fostering a conducive environment for learning and research by promoting stability and harmony within our universities,” Tinubu affirmed.
