President Bola Tinubu has vowed decisive action following the murder of Alhaji Isa Bawa, the District Head of Gatawa in Sokoto State, by bandits. In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu condemned the attack as a serious and disturbing crime. He extended his heartfelt condolences to Alhaji Bawa’s family, the Gobir Emirate, and the Sokoto State government, praying for the deceased’s soul and for comfort for his grieving family. Tinubu assured that his administration is ramping up efforts to tackle security threats and combat terrorism effectively.
The terrorists responsible for Alhaji Bawa’s murder demanded a ransom of N60 million and five motorcycles for the release of his body. Alhaji Bawa was abducted, tortured, and killed on Wednesday. Before his death, a distressing video surfaced showing him pleading for his life and calling for government intervention. The video, which showed him and his son being held captive, highlighted the severity of their situation and the terrorists’ coercion. Despite his desperate plea for help, the terrorists killed him, and the family now faces the grim prospect of not being able to provide a proper Islamic burial if they cannot meet the ransom demands.
