President Tinubu confers National honours on Senate President, CJN, others

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu conferred the prestigious Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) upon Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Kudirat Kekere Ekun, during his Independence Day speech on Tuesday.

The President also announced that the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, will receive the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR).

Also, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has been awarded the Commander of the Order of Niger (CON).

“The Senate President and the Chief Justice of the Federation have been conferred with the honour of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON),” President Tinubu stated.

He added, “The Deputy Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives have the honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), while the Deputy Speaker of the House has been awarded Commander of the Order of Niger (CON).”

The President indicated that the government would soon announce all beneficiaries of the national honours for 2024, continuing the tradition of recognizing individuals for their significant contributions to the country’s progress.
