National preisident, Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Alhaji Musa Mohammed has charged the newly inaugurated state officers of the trade union for effective performance in their respective states.

The national president gave the charge to them shortly after their inauguration and swearing – in, in their respective positions at the trade union’s national secretariat in Abuja, the nation’s capital recently.

The trade union recently inaugurated and sworn – in, the newly elected officers from Borno, with Amb Mohammed Bishara as Chairman; Delta, with Comrade Elvis Kporoh as Chairman; Enugu, with Chidiebere Aniagu as Chairman; Imo with Celestine Oluigbo A. as chairman and; Plateau with Imoh Jonah as Chairman.

Making the message clear, he reminded them that they would find it difficult to deliver and excel in their respective positions, without among others, tolerance, cooperation and strict adherence to law. He also enjoined them to see themselves as servants to those who elected them, instead of the other way round. Alhaji Musa Mohammed spoke at length on the need for them to be dedicated as well as involve God in their services, which if done, according to him would go a long way.

Similarly, all the newly sworn-in chairmen hailed the president for promoting unity and progress in the trade union, even as they promised to move the trade union to the expected level in their respective states, as well as abide by its constitution and that of the country in general.

The Deputy President (admin), Alhaji Mohammed Bishara who doubles as the chairman of the association in Borno state urged the newly elected officers to be supportive to the national president and his executives at the centre, even as he enjoined them to be dedicated and security conscious in performance of their duties.

He therefore drew the attention of the newly appointed Director General (DG), World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo – Iweala to the transportation industry, saying that the business of buying and selling at the domestic and international levels work hand in hand with transportation. Enjoining her to keep the peace at which she has been going, Bishara said that the DG excelled in all the positions she held at the local and international levels.

The patron of RTEAN in Enugu state, the traditional ruler of Ndiagu Akpugo Nkanu, Enugu state, HRH Igwe Chibuike Okoh, who equally attended the occasion said the loyalty of the state chairman of RTEAN to the trade union, the state and Nigeria in general, as well as the way he has been progressively been moving the organisation forward motivated him to attend the event personally. The royal father therefore advised him to keep the peace at which he has been moving, as well as hailed them for comportment, saying that membership of the association is made of educated and responsible transporters in the state, devoid of louts and thugs.
