President Muhammadu Buhari has sent felicitations to the people of Greece as they celebrate the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Hellenic Republic.
His spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina, said in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday that President Buhari also reflected on the long-standing ties between Nigeria and Greece.
He said President Buhari valued the significant investments Greek nationals had made in Nigeria’s food and agro-allied industry, contributing substantially to food sufficiency and security.
The president acknowledged the indelible marks of Greek ingenuity and scholarship in the world of arts, literature, science, sports and industry.
“He prayed that this august occasion, which will surely bring fond memories of the forebears of the Greek nation, would inspire the present generation to greater successes.
“He also noted that Greece’s long history of strength, survival and innovation had helped it to surmount political, economic and security challenges.
“The president looked forward to a future of peace, stability and prosperity, under strong democratic institutions and governance,’’ Adesina stated.
He added that President Buhari wished President Katerina Sakellaropoulou, Greeks celebrating on March 25 in Nigeria and Greeks around the world a happy Independence Day and Bicentennial anniversary.
