Popular twitter influencer ventures fully into hype, releases documentary on his creative journey
Can we meet you please?
My name is Peng Man, that’s what the industry calls me. But my full names are JUDE Junior Maduka.
I’m the King of the Peng Lifestyle.
Can you briefly give us the biography of yourself and what you have as your passion?
I have a passion for creating, I’m a full time creative person. Although I have a degree in computing technology the creative/entertainment industry is where my passion lies.
I’m a professional model, a fashion, lifestyle influencer and HypeMan.
And right now I’m focusing more on the hype artistry side of things.
Being in the entertainment industry for a while now, how have you been finding it since you started?
It’s been a mixture of the good and bad, but I’m thankful to be here today, I also worked very hard and I can say it’s all been worth it.
What were the challenges you faced at the beginning of your career as a model and an influencer?
I think the major challenge was visibility, it wasn’t easy to get noticed in the beginning. I had to do a lot of socializing & networking. I was going to random events, even the ones I wasn’t invited to.
Stating the fact that you are an influencer, can you tell us why you want to switch from being an influencer to an hype artiste?
I feel like I’ve done all I want to do as an influencer, I’ve worked with big brands, major brands like MTN, Tiktok Africa, Coco-Cola, Gulder to mention a few.
I feel like there’s so much more to me as a creative and I’m ready to explore all sides of me especially the hype part of my talents.
It’s lovely that you started young, but did your family always support your dreams?
Hahaha, no they definitely did not! especially my dad. I remember he used to always have a problem with me keeping late nights when I just moved back from UK to naija. He also didn’t understand why I was taking so much pictures, he felt I could be doing other useful things with my time.
My mum was always the more supportive one although she had her reservations sometimes, I guess she just didn’t want to see me fail, which was a very valid reason.
Right now, however, my whole family supports me, my dad is even subscribed to my YouTube channel.
Which of the Nigerian artists have you done collaboration with and which one are you looking forward to collaborate with?
Right now, I haven’t done any collaboration music wise with any artistes. I have done some influencing for a couple of artistes e.g. MAVIN records, Adekunle Gold, Skibii, to name a few..
The number one artiste I would love to collaborate with right now would be Asake though…
What advice do you have for upcoming influencers and your fans?
Hardwork doesn’t kill. It’s very possible to be successful as a creative in Nigeria as long as you never give up and you’re willing to be patient while learning from your failures and always seek advice from people that have been there before you. You must believe in yourself too, very important. If you don’t believe in yourself how do you expect others to believe in you?
Last but not the least, put God in everything you do. It sounds cliche but trust me, it’s powerful. God is the greatest.
Where do you see yourself in the next few years?
I see myself shutting down shows, festivals and concerts internationally. I see myself representing heavy for the Afrobeats and AfroHype movement.
Should we hope to get any musical lines from you? If yes when?
Oh yes definitely, I got a couple sounds coming soon, I’ve been working, definitely before the end of the year, expect something.
