The Senate spokesperson, Ajibola Basiru has lost his bid to return to the Senate, losing to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Fadeyi Olubiyi.
While giving the result of the election at the Osun Central Senatorial collation centre, Osogbo City Hall, Olonkoro, the collation officer, Professor Ibrahim Usman disclosed that Olubiyi scored 134, 229 to defeat Basiru who polled 117,609 while Labour Party candidate, Oyebode Babasola, scored 2,292.
Also, the PDP candidate for Osogbo Federal Constituency, Moruf Adebayo polled 71,677 votes to defeat his APC rival, Abosede Kasumu-Ogo-Oluwa who scored 58,992 votes.

According to the collation officer, Dr Isiaq Egbewole, the Labour Party candidate scored 1,930 votes to emerge third.
Party clears NASS seats
Candidates of the PDP in Osun State won all the seats in the National Assembly (NASS) for the Osun Central in the Saturday February 25, 2023, presidential and National Assembly polls.
The breakdown of the seats includes Osun Central Senatorial District for the Senate and Boluwaduro/Ifedayo/Ila Federal Constituency, Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-Otin Federal Constituency and Osogbo/Olorunda/Irepodun/Orolu Federal Constituency for the House of Representatives.
Hon. Taofeek Ajilesoro of PDP also retained his seat in Ife Federal Constituency.
He had 53,078 to defeat his closest rival, Engr. Benjamin Adereti who scored 51,051 votes.
This was disclosed on Sunday by Professor Ibrahim Usman, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Collation Officer for Osun Central.
According to Usman, the registered voters in the Osun Central were 654,135.
For the Senate, Ajagunla Olubiyi, PDP senatorial candidate for Osun Central polled 134,229 votes to defeat Ajibola Bashiru of the APC who polled 117, 609 votes.
For the House of Representatives, Adewale Muruf, of the PDP polled 71, 677 votes to defeat, Bosede Ogolouwa of the APC who secured 58, 992 votes for Osogbo/Olorunda/Irepodun/Orolu Federal Constituency.
Also, Nigerian NewsDirect gathered that the PDP secured victory in the Osun East and West Senatorial Districts and in the remaining six Federal Constituencies in the State.
…APC National Secretary, Omisore delivers Federal Constituency for Tinubu
Meanwhile, the National Secretary of the APC, Senator Iyiola Omisore has delivered the Ife Central/Ife East/Ife North/Ife South Federal Constituency for the Presidential candidate of his party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Omisore, who was former Osun deputy governor scored 58,149 votes for his party.
The results of the presidential election was submitted on Sunday before the state collation officer, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Prof. Tolulope Ogunsola at the INEC Head Office in Osogbo.
Tinubu defeated his co-defendants, leaving Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso in second, third and fourth places respectively.
Atiku of the PDP received 43,114 votes, while Obi of Labour Party garnered 7,017 and Kwankwaso of the NNPP scored 241 votes respectively.
List of the results for IFE EAST Local Governments showed: APC 20,902; PDP 1,2818; LP 2422; NNPP 88.
IFE NORTH Local Government: APC 7,915; PDP 9,754; LP 667; NNPP 12.
IFE SOUTH Local Government: APC 9,555; PDP 9,765; LP 554; NNPP 30 and IFE CENTRAL Local Government: APC 19,362; PDP 10,777; LP 3,374; NNPP 111.
