The Adamawa Police Command says it has deployed its personnel on 24 hours routine intelligence drive surveillance to curb political thuggery and instigators.
This is contained in a statemrnt signed by SP Suleiman Nguroje, the spokesperson of the command, and made available to journalists in Yola on Tuesdsy.
He said that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Sikiru Akande, has ordered for a total clamp down on those breaking the laws and order, especially political thugs who cause trouble.
“The CP has deployed officers and other operatives drawn from the Special Rapid Response Team (SRRT).
“Tactical squads have been directed to carryout a tactical and intelligence driven patrol against political gangsterism and their sponsors.”
He added that all are warned to play politics peacefully and by the rules.
“The CP equally directed all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Operational Commanders and their Supervisory Area Commanders to personally lead the operations in their respective areas of responsibility.
“This will ensure total domination of the public space and arrest trouble makers,” he said.
He emphasised the determination of the command in protecting the lives and property of the residents, while calling for full cooperation of members of the general public particularly politicians.
“We expect all and sundry to key into the Command’s effort in maintaining peace,” he added.
He also called on members of the public to report any suspicious character to the nearest police station or call the Police emergency telephone numbers for rapid response.
