The Ogun State Police Command has raised the alarm about a notorious one-chance robbery gang operating along the Sagamu, Ijebu Ode, and Mowe expressway.
The gang has been terrorising commuters, with the latest incident involving a victim who was robbed of N700,000 at gunpoint.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the police have received multiple complaints from residents about the gang’s activities.
Odutola warned traders and business owners to avoid travelling with large amounts of cash and advised commuters to record and send videos to the police if they have any concerns about a particular vehicle.
“The Ogun State Police Command has become inundated with complaints of a notorious gang operating within Sagamu, Ijebu Ode to Mowe. Commuters in that area should record a video of their trip and upload it to police media if they have any doubts about the vehicle,” Odutola said.
She added that an investigation is ongoing to apprehend the suspects. In the latest incident, a victim who boarded a vehicle from Kajola was robbed at gunpoint, taken to a street, and forced to transfer N700,000 into a POS machine.
The police are urging the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
With the notorious gang on the loose, commuters are advised to exercise caution when travelling along the affected route.
