Police to arraign gay suspect as lover flees from community

The Edo State Command of the Nigerian Police has announced plans to arraign a gay suspect who was apprehended in a remote community and handed over to policemen on patrol while his fleeing lover Stanley Esimikhe was declared wanted.

The arrested gay suspect is Tajudeen Kennedy.

The Command in a statement made available to journalists in Benin City disclosed that the gay suspect was apprehended after a tip-off by an unnamed individual who resides within the remote community.

Tajudeen Kennedy and Stanley Esimikhe, according to the statement, were caught on September 20th 2024 in the act of same-sex practice under cover of the night in their apartment when an unnamed neighbour walked into the apartment and caught them as the unnamed neighbour immediately raised an alarm to attract other neighbours, the statement added .

The statement noted that the gay suspect is assisting the police to apprehend his fleeing lover Stanley Esimikhe who immediately escaped through the window of the apartment while Tajudeen Kennedy was suddenly apprehended by neighbours.

Tajudeen Kennedy was said to have made confessional statement implicating Stanley Esimikhe after incriminating evidence including nude and group sex videos on his phone were discovered while other different sex objects were also said to have been found in the apartment after policemen ransacked the apartment for incriminating evidence.

Meanwhile the command in the statement further said that while the gay suspect under interrogation confessed to the crime of same-sex practice which is in clear violation of the Same-sex Act of 2014, plans are already underway to commence with the prosecution of the case in line with relevant provisions of the Act following the completion of investigation into the case .

The statement disclosed that while Stanley Esimikhe has been declared wanted by the Nigerian police, a manhunt has been launched in synergy with other security agencies and local vigilante to apprehend the fleeing gay suspect involved in the prohibited and sacrilegious act of same-sex practice within and outside the state as members of the public have been told to provide any useful information that could lead to the arrest of the fleeing gay suspect or report same at any nearby police station for a handsome reward .

Meanwhile, an unscheduled visit to the places of residence of Stanley Esimikhe, the fleeing gay suspect revealed that he had abandoned his home and fled from the community as a direct measure to escape the full wrath of the law .

In Nigeria, violation of the Same-sex Act 2014 attracts a minimum of 10 years Imprisonment upon conviction.
