Police recover stolen car in Abuja, suspect flees scene

The FCT Police Command has successfully recovered a grey Toyota Corolla, bearing the registration number KWL 738 BB, during a routine early morning patrol along Apo Dutse Road, Abuja. The operation, which took place at around 5:00 am, was led by ASP Momoh and carried out by the Command’s Scorpion Squad.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, explained that the officers on patrol spotted the vehicle, which was being driven by a solitary occupant who appeared to be acting suspiciously.

“When flagged down by the operatives, the individual abandoned the vehicle and fled into a nearby bush,” Adeh said.

The statement continued, “While on patrol, the officers noticed the vehicle with a single occupant who seemed nervous and fidgety behind the wheel. Acting on their instincts, the officers signalled for the vehicle to stop. In a quick turn of events, the individual abandoned the car and ran into a nearby bush upon being instructed to halt.”

Through an analysis of the vehicle’s documents, the officers were able to identify the owner, Mr. Kaseem Mustapha, who was fast asleep at home when the incident took place. Upon being informed, Mustapha rushed out and discovered that his car had indeed been stolen from where it was parked.

The successful recovery of the vehicle provided significant relief to Mr. Mustapha, who expressed his gratitude to the officers for their swift and diligent action. Investigations into the matter are ongoing as efforts continue to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

Adeh reassured residents of the Command’s steadfast commitment to ensuring public safety and security. She also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly.
