Police rearraign 2 men for alleged assault, causing grievous hurt
The police on Tuesday, rearraigned two men, Idris Mohammed and Mohammadu Mohammed in an Upper Area Court Gwagwalada, FCT for allegedly inflicting injuries on a farmer.
The police charged the defendants on four counts bordering on criminal conspiracy, assault, force and causing grievous hurt.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Dabo Yakubu, told the court that the case was starting ‘de Novo’ (anew) as a result of the transfer of the former judge.
Yakubu told the court that the matter was reported at Area Command office, Gwagwalada by Aliyu Ibrahim of Pai village Kwali, FCT on Sept. 7, 2021.
He said that on Sept. 3, 2021 while the complainant was working on his farm, the defendants and four others now at large allegedly planted poison on cattle routes which led to the death of six cows.
He said that they inflicted injuries on his head.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 96, 263, 264 and 241 of the Penal Code.
The defendants, however pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Judge, Malam Abdullahi Abdulkarim, ordered the defendant to continue with the earlier bail granted by the formal judge.
He adjourned the matter until July 19 for hearing.
