Police pursue kidnappers of two Adamawa pastors
The Adamawa State Police Command has deployed its Quick Response Squad to rescue two pastors who were kidnapped on Monday in the Fufore Local Government Area of the state.
The victims, identified as Ishaku D. Chiwar and Reverend James Kwayam of the EYN Church, Billa Malabu, were abducted from their homes in Hayin Gada, Billa village, Malabu District.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroji, confirmed that the kidnappers, armed with offensive weapons, stormed the victims’ homes around 2:00 am and took them away.
“In response, the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, ordered the immediate mobilisation of the Command’s operational assets to track down the kidnappers, rescue the victims, and apprehend the perpetrators,” Nguroji said.
He further stated, “The Command’s determined efforts will ensure that those responsible for this heinous crime are brought to justice, reiterating the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the state.”
Nguroji condemned the kidnapping of the two religious leaders, describing it as an unacceptable act, particularly as they are vital contributors to the community. He appealed for calm and urged the public to provide the police with any information that could aid in the rescue of the pastors.
