Police pledge peaceful supplementary election in Adamawa
The Police Commissioner in Adamawa, Mr Mohammed Barde, has assured residents in Adamawa a peaceful governorship and state assembly supplementary elections scheduled for April 15.
Barde gave the assurance in an interview with newsmen, shortly after the security meeting ahead of the election on Thursday in Yola.
According to him, security agencies are ready to deal with any person who wants to create violence during the exercise.
“We are going to ensure a level playing ground for a peaceful and successful election in the state.
“We will not tolerate those who gather thugs for violence during the exercise, we have enough personnel to deploy across the affected polling units, collation centers and other strategic places,” he said.
Also speaking, Mr Hudu Ari, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Adamawa, said that the commission was set for free, fair and credible supplementary elections in the 69 polling units.
He said that the commission will on Friday distribute the sensitive materials for the exercise.
“We are all prepared for the supplementary election and we assure you that the election will be peaceful.
“We equally urge members of the commission staff to conduct themselves professionally,” he said
