Police nab impostor of Akwa Ibom commissioner for lands

The Akwa Ibom Police Command has arrested one Imaobong Kelvin Akpan for impersonating the State Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pst Umo Eno.

This was contained in a press statement signed by command Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko MacDon and made available to journalists in Uyo on Tuesday.

The PPRO who said the suspect was arrested following a petition to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, noted that aside from impersonating the commissioner through a fake Facebook account, the suspect had defrauded unsuspecting members of the public.

He said, “the suspect who is a notorious fraudster and sex maniac confessed to having fraudulently created the Facebook account.

“He uses the said account to lure innocent and unsuspecting ladies to hotels, has carnal knowledge of them with a promise to assist them secure jobs while defrauding others of various sums of money running into millions.

“He succeeded in luring more than 10 ladies through the fraudulent Facebook account and had sexual intercourse with them at various hotels while posing as the Personal Assistant to the Honourable Commissioner, he added.

The exhibits recovered from the suspect includes two glo sims, two airtel sims, an MTN sim card, two phones and seven dollars and five yuan.

The PPRO said that On 4/12/2021 at about 10:40am, following a tip-off, Detectives of Ibesikpo Asutan Division arrested one Emmanuel Enobong a.k.a “Eno” ‘m’.

He further said the suspect was fingered in the murder of one Barr. Sunday Akpan ‘m’, who prior to his death was the Legal Adviser to Eteidung Chief Moses Eyo Etim ‘m’, the factional Village Head of Nung Ukana Ikot Efere, Ibesikpo Asutan L.G.A.

The statement added, “The Commissioner of Police wishes to warn fraudsters, impersonators and those involved in other heinous crimes within the State to desist forthwith or have the law to contend with as the Command will spare no resources in ensuring that the state continues to enjoy the prevailing peace.”
