Police nab 8 motorcycle theft suspects in Osun

The Osun State Police Command has arrested eight suspected members of a notorious syndicate known for stealing motorcycles from where they are parked across the State.

The Police spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said the operatives attached to the Commissioner of Police’s Monitoring Unit on April 11, 2025 arrested a 27-year-old suspect, Olowookere Ojo Mojeed, at Ogo-Oluwa area in Osogbo.

Ojelabi said Mojeed was found in possession of a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with registration number EDT 155 QF, which he stole from where it was parked by the owner

He said that further investigation led to the recovery of two additional motorcycles, a TVS and the suspect confessed to belong to members of a syndicate that specialize in stealing Motorcycles from where they are parked.

The police operatives later the same day, arresting one Hammed Jelili, 38, at his hideout in Shasha area, Osogbo and six spare motorcycle keys, believed to be used for their operations, were recovered from him.

“Discreet investigation led the Operatives to Brewery area, Ibadan, Oyo State where the receiver of the stolen Motorcycles, one Oguntade Segun ‘m’ 64 years was arrested and confessed to have bought four different makes of Motorcycles from them at a price ranging from two hundred and fifty thousand naira only (#250,000) to three hundred thousand naira only (#300,000). Further investigation led to the arrest of Arobadi Michael ‘m’ 30 years who always deliver the stolen Motorcycles to the receiver. The suspects will be charged to Court after the completion of investigation.”

The Police Command then called on those whose motorcycles were stolen or robbed to come to the CP’s Monitoring Unit, State headquarters, Osogbo for identification.
