Police declare two women wanted for same sex allegations
The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has issued a wanted notice for two women, Michelle Chibuzor and Ijeoma Kalu Amadi Nnennaya, in connection with allegations of homosexuality.
Homosexuality, which refers to attraction between individuals of the same sex, is illegal in Nigeria and is punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
According to a police statement, the two women were caught engaging in homosexual acts by members of their local community. However, they fled the scene before the authorities could intervene, prompting the police to ask the public for assistance in locating them.
The statement further confirmed that an extensive investigation into the matter had been conducted, and the criminal act was substantiated. Despite efforts to arrest the suspects, they managed to evade capture.
The police have urged anyone with information about their whereabouts to contact the nearest police station, as previous attempts to apprehend and prosecute them have been unsuccessful.
