Police declare two men wanted for same-sex relations
The Nigeria Police Force has declared Dayo Moses and David Bamishe wanted in connection with alleged violations of the country’s anti-homosexuality laws.
According to Nigeria’s Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act, enacted in January 2014, individuals found guilty of engaging in same-sex relationships face a prison sentence of up to 14 years.
A Magistrate Court in Osogbo, Osun State, has issued an arrest warrant for both men.
On Thursday, 5th December 2024, at approximately 2:00 PM (Nigeria time), police officers carried out a raid at Ebenezer Hotel in Osun State. During the operation, Dayo Moses (21) and David Bamishe (24) were reportedly caught engaging in activities that breach Nigeria’s anti-gay legislation.

Their actions, according to the police, contravene Section 214 of the Criminal Code Act, which criminalises “carnal knowledge against the order of nature” and prescribes a 14-year prison sentence upon conviction.
Following the raid, the two men were placed on a prosecution list for alleged gross indecency between men. However, Dayo Moses has since evaded arrest, prompting law enforcement to escalate efforts
