Police declare Onukaogu Lazarus wanted over alleged bisexuality

The Nigerian Police Force has declared Onukaogu Lazarus Ebuka wanted for allegedly engaging in a bisexual act, violating the Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act of 2013. Born on March 17, 1991, in Obowo, Imo State, Lazarus was reportedly caught in the act on January 1, 2023, in Awada Obosi, Idemili North, Anambra State.

Sources indicate that Lazarus invited Ajero Peter Ebuka to his family home, where they began a romantic encounter. Their noise reportedly attracted neighbours, who intervened and discovered the two men engaging in sexual activity—an act deemed unacceptable by both local customs and criminal law. During the altercation, Ajero tragically lost his life, while Lazarus managed to evade police arrest.

A police spokesperson stated, “The practice of gay, bisexual, or homosexual acts is a criminal offense in Nigeria, carrying a penalty of up to 14 years in prison upon conviction.”

The spokesperson further urged the public, saying, “We call on members of the public to report any sightings of the suspect to the nearest police station.”

As the investigation continues, the police remain vigilant in their efforts to uphold the law regarding same-sex relationships.
