Police declare five wanted for homosexuality

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has declared men and a woman wanted for alleged homosexuality.

Homosexuality is an attraction between people who are of the same sex. It is illegal in Nigeria and punishable by 14 years imprisonment.

According to the police statement, the people include Pastor Olusoga Olanrewaju Abayomi, Raimot Omowumi Akinyemi, Aliu Rasaki Akin, Segun Sowami, Wahab Yusuff Adisa, and Sunday Olayemi Afolayan.

They were caught practising homosexuality by the people of the community.They fled the scene of the incident, and members of the public were informed to report their whereabouts.

“We have carried out a thorough investigation on this criminal act. And we found it to be true . Sadly, in an attempt to apprehend them. They escaped.

“Anyone with any useful information about their whereabouts should kindly contact the nearest police station as various attempts to arrest and prosecute them have proven abortive,” the statement read.
