Police confirm murder of Olofa’s Prince by suspected cultists in Osun

Fear gripped residents of Ofatedo, Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State as unidentified cult group stormed the residence of son to Olofa of Ofatedo, Oba Abdulahi Okunloye and shot him dead.

The prince, Yinusa Okunloye, 43-year-old according to an eyewitness was dragged out of his residence by the cult group and later shot on the chest.

It was learnt that the incident occurred around 12 a.m. on Saturday.

The aftermath of the prince death led to a roadblock as early as 8 a.m. in the community, while businesses were closed down.

Osun State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident.

SP Opalola said a group of suspected cultists about three in number invaded Olofa Street, Ofatedo and called Okunloye out of his room and shot him in his chest where he later died.

She stressed that the remains of the prince has been deposited at UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Opalola however said no one has been caught responsible for the killing but promised that all efforts are on the desk to bring the suspects to book.
