Police assure of peaceful re-run election in Bauchi

The Commissioner of Police in Bauchi, Mr Auwal Musa, says the command has adopted proactive measures to ensure peaceful and hitch-free re-run election in the state.

Musa told journalists on Thursday in Bauchi that the command has been on the ground to ensure peaceful conduct of the Feb. 3 by-election in the state.

He said the command had deployed personnel to man the 42 Polling Units where the election would hold.

He warned against acts capable of causing trouble or disaffection among the citizens during the exercise.

“The command will not tolerate any form of hooliganism and violence that will disturb the election in the state.

“We are not going to rest on ours when it comes to the protection of lives and property of the people,” he said.

While urging political parties and other stakeholders to do their part by ensuring peaceful and credible election, Musa called on the residents to cooperate with the police to enable them to discharge their duties effectively.

The Appeal Court ordered for re-run election across 42 PUs in four State Assembly Constituencies of the state.

The constituencies are: Bauchi Central; Zungur/Galambi, Ningi 1 and Madara/Chinade.

Also, INEC on Thursday distributed sensitive materials and trained about 200 ad hoc personnel for the exercise.
