Police arrested Ex convict for alleged theft, burglary, and destruction of property in Ogun

Officers of the Ago-Iwoye Division of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested an ex-convict, identified as Kokumo Olatunbosun, for alleged theft, burglary, and destruction of property in the Imoro area of Ago-Iwoye.

Olatunbosun was arrested after breaking into a house and stealing items valued at N1,640,000.

Confirming the incident to Newsmen on Wednesday, the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, said the suspect, a former prisoner with two prior convictions, had pretended to be one Adebayo Wasiu before his arrest.

Odutola noted that the suspect allegedly broke into the house after the family had gone to church. He used pliers to cut the electric wire on top of a high fence, jumped into the compound, and entered the house through a window.

She explained that when the suspect realized the family had returned from church, he hid in their storeroom.

Odutola said: “He broke into a house in the Imoro area of Ago-Iwoye, used pliers to cut the electric wire on top of a high fence valued at N700,000, and gained entrance to the compound by climbing the fence.

“He damaged the window burglary proof valued at N110,000, destroyed louvers worth N50,000, entered the house through the window, and carted away pieces of jewelry valued at N100,000 and an iPhone 13 worth N680,000.”

She disclosed that his arrest followed a tip-off, and the Kemta Division of the command promptly swung into action and apprehended the suspect.

Odutola added that the stolen jewelry had been recovered, but the iPhone 13 was still missing.

She, however, assured that the suspect would be prosecuted once the investigation was concluded and that additional information would be shared as the case developed.
