Police arrest two for alleged drug trafficking in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has apprehended two individuals, Feziechukwu Okolie and Udeme Daniel, in connection with suspected drug trafficking.

The Public Relations Officer for the command,  Timfon John, revealed this information in a statement issued on Monday.

John, who mentioned that the suspects were apprehended during a raid on their residence in the Ring Road-3 area of the state on Saturday, also reported that a variety of ammunition was seized from them.

She continued, “The command’s operatives made the recovery during a raid on the suspects’ residence on Saturday, August 31, 2024, in Ring Road-3, Uyo.

“One of the suspects, Feziechukwu Kizito Okolie, a male from Abia-Omuma in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State, and the other, Udeme Francis Daniel, a male from Iwor Etor in Etinan Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.

“Items recovered from the suspects include a Nitro Air rifle with a detachable telescope, a SID Sauer American pistol, a Powerline Japanese pistol, and a Phantom American pistol.”

She listed additional exhibits as: “a black bag containing two pistol magazines with ten rounds of live 9mm ammunition, one black pistol casing, two pairs of leather gloves, and three wraps of substances suspected to be hemp.”

John emphasised that the suspects were undergoing a thorough investigation and reiterated the command’s commitment to eliminating crime in the state.

“The suspects are currently in the command’s custody and are undergoing a detailed investigation.

“The command assures the public of its dedication to eliminating crime and ensuring safety and security in the state. 

“It also encourages residents of Akwa Ibom to share credible intelligence with the police to support the fight against criminal activities,” she concluded.
