Police arrest three for robbing ‘Tope Alabi’ in Ogun

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command say they have arrested three suspects who allegedly invaded a provision/drinks store and dispossessed the owner, one Tope Alabi (not the gospel singer) of a huge sum of money.

According to statement from  Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspected armed robbers whose name were given as Anu Ibikunle, Rasheed Bisiriyu and Adebowale Dada were said to have been arrested on Thursday, July 22 at Oke-Ore area in Atan-Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of the state

Oyeyemi said the suspects were arrested, following a distress call received at Atan-Ota Divisional headquarters of the command at about 9:45 p.m. on the fateful day that men of  underworld had invaded a provision and drinks shop at Oke Ore area, and the owner, one Tope Alabi has been held hostage.

Acting on the distress call, the state police spokesman stated that the Divisional Police Officer, Atan-Ota, CSP Abolade Oladigbolu, mobilised his men and moved to the scene.

He added that when the suspects sighted the policemen, the hoodlums, who first attacked the policemen later took to their heels having realised the determination of the policemen to subdue them.

Oyeyemi said further, “They were hotly chased and the three of them were subsequently apprehended.”

Items recovered from them according to him are one locally made pistol, two live cartridges and assorted dangerous charms.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.

The CP also appealed to members of the public to always inform the police on time whenever they noticed any distress situation.
